Dr. Hanan Hashem is a Researcher and Community Educator at The Family and Youth Institute. She is also a Faculty Fellow at William James College in Boston. She completed her Master’s in Quantitative Methods and PhD in Counseling Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Hashem recently completed her predoctoral internship at The Center for Multicultural Training of Psychology at Boston Medical Center/Boston University. 

Dr. Hashem’s main interests are in research, clinical, and community work. Her current research focuses on contextual factors that influence American Muslim youth development, including the role of their racial, religious, and gender identities in their everyday experiences. Regarding her clinical work, Dr. Hashem has completed training at various sites, including university counseling centers, a youth shelter, and community health centers. Dr. Hashem is also a community organizer and has focused her efforts on youth empowerment through local youth groups, regional camps, and conferences, as well as serving as an educator and mental health consultant for varying institutions.
